Located in the southwestern United States, Arizona, was the last state of the contiguous states to be admitted to the union in 1912. It is recognized for its diverse climate and topography from the dry, cactus strewn desert with its intense summer heat and mild winters to the pine forests and mountain ranges of the Arizona “high country.” Arizona has the large urban areas such as Phoenix and Tucson yet contains many unique areas such as the Grand Canyon, many Native American reservations, national forests and national monuments. Arizona is the 6th largest state in area and is home to Meteor Crater, one of the most interesting meteorite impact sites in the world. Home to the PGA Tour, Arizona’s resorts and golf courses are world famous and the state also serves as a popular host to Major League Baseball spring training.
